Python Function

What is Python Function

Python functions are blocks of code that are used to perform a specific task. They are defined using the def keyword and can take in parameters (arguments) and return a value. Python functions can be used to organize code, reduce duplication, and make programs easier to debug and maintain.

What is python Function used for?

Python functions are used to organize code and make it easier to debug and maintain. They also help reduce duplication of code by allowing developers to write functions once and call them multiple times with different arguments. Functions can also be used to split up large programs into smaller, more manageable chunks.

Python Function Example

A function is a block of code that takes in an input, processes it and produces an output. It is a set of statements organized together to perform a specific task. Python functions are defined using the def keyword.

For example, let’s create a function to calculate the area of a rectangle.

def area_rectangle(length, breadth):
   return length*breadth

# calling the function
area = area_rectangle(5, 8)

print("Area of the rectangle is:", area)

# Output
Area of the rectangle is: 40

In the above example, we have defined a function called area_rectangle() that takes two parameters (length and breadth) and returns the area of a rectangle (length*breadth). We have then called this function with two arguments 5 and 8 and stored the result in a variable called area. Finally, we have printed out the area of the rectangle using the print() function.
